Origin
Gratien & Meyer was founded in 1864, and makes this distinctive sparkling in much the same way as Champagne, albeit from white and red varieties traditional to the Loire. The bottled wines are matured in cellars dug into the limestone soil directly under the vineyards.
Taste
Pale yellow in colour, with refined, persistent bubbles. The fruit-driven nose has delicate floral hints. Equally fruity on the palate, which is nicely balanced, refreshing and with good length.
Enjoy
A food-friendly sparkling, equally at home with fish or poultry as it is with canapés.

    High quality Fizz from the Loire

    Lots of lovely sparkling wine from the Loire with Ackermann and Gratien & Meyer producing the very best. This one from G&M is an easy to drink version from a blend of two white and one red grape and is a safe bet at a party or summer BBQ as absolutely no-one will dislike it. The best from G&M are all made entirely from the red grape Cabernet Franc, and as expected come in a white brut version and a delicate pink rose both with that hint of woodland berries which is so typical of this grape, but the mind blowing surprize is a slightly sweet dark red version called Cardinal and I would rate it as the very best wine G&M produce!

    Fun, festive and fragrant

    Saumur, from the heart of the Loire valley, provides the perfect bubbly (methode champagnoise) accopaniment to most dishes, particularly seafood. Perfect for drinking on its own too. A special offer not to be missed - try for yourself and you won't be disappointed.

    Very good value

    This wine has the typical taste and aroma of the region. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
