Some people consider Sean Thackrey to be a bit of an eccentric. This is a garage operation in the truest sense of the term, buying in the finest grapes from some of the oldest and lowest yielding vines in Napa he produces but a couple of barrels each of these acclaimed wines. With an explosive nose of freshly ground black pepper, coriander and graphite the palate is incredibly rich, unctuous and layered with a fabulous viscocity and texture. With damson, black cherry and minerals there is real precision and harmony here. Drink it with rare steak over the next 20 years.
