Lebanese wine might seem obscure, but viticultural roots in Lebanon go back over 6000 years. Château Musar is a uniquely different wine from the Beeka Valley, produced by master winemaker Serge Hochar. Concentrated plum and blackberry fruit, hints of fig, prune, distinct liquorice and spice. Firm but fine tannins, good acidity and body, vibrant and fresh with streaks of cedar and cinnamon. Long finish. Château Musar will last for decades and can be enjoyed with everything from French-style roast lamb, to North-African cuisine.
Now fully mature, this wine is fine and delicate, subtly blending notes of old leather, cigar tobacco and clove with raisined fruit flavours.

This Reserva is drinking nicely now, but can be kept for a few more years should you wish. Classic Rioja at its best, offering a heady mixture of dried berry and spice box character.

Traditionally a Cabernet-Merlot blend, today the wine employs a small percentage of Petit Verdot for a firm, age-worthy structure. Aged for 18 months in 70%-new oak, the wine is elegant and round, with great aromatic complexity.

A more supple, early-drinking expression of the estate's style, the Sirene offers a fleshy core of fruit accented with notes of smoke, spice and creosote. The excellent 2006 vintage is drinking superbly now, and will continue to develop for another 5-10 years.
Price £24.00
A plump and rounded claret, typical of Pomerol, combining the lush fruit backbone of 70% Merlot with Cabernet Franc's leafy, savoury influence. Maturation in 40%-new french oak provides spice and polish.

This superbly-made Italian middleweight is soft and harmonious, with a fine balance of intense sour cherry flavours and polished tannins.
Medium-bodied, with and attractive character, full of berry fruit and dried herb notes.
The second wine (of Pichon-Lalande), the 2007 Reserve de Comtesse, is a lighter, but equally soft and approachable version of the grand vin. 87 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (April 2010).
The 2008 is nevertheless a robust wine, with both ripeness and a savoury edge, with a cocoa bitterness, notes of woodsmoke and textural tannins.
