Origin
The name of this estate is derived from 'Agua Viva', the Roman thermal baths that once stood on this site, whose underground water supply today quenches the otherwise arid soils. The modern winery was developed by Phillipe Dourthe but is now owned by Gérard Bertrand.
Taste
A classically structured southern French red, offering an array of red and black fruit aromas, nuanced with notes of cocoa, rose petal and savoury pepper. A robust tannic backbone provides a long finish.
Enjoy
Partner with duck confit, braised lamb shank, or some succulent venison sausages.

    Water of Life indeed!

Smashing red, bags of concentrated fruit up front, with more length and structure than a wine of this price has any right to. At a tenner it is decent value, with any offer it's worth snapping up.

    Brilliant!

Fantastic Corbieres. Smooth, fruity, with a medium body. Everything I want in a red and with the value you get from southern french wines.

    Fantastic stuff

this wine is a terrific find even amongst other good value southern french bottles. concentrated, fruity, enough tannin to give it an edge, miles apart from inispid corbieres i used to buy from the supermarket. Exception indeed!

Press Reviews

  • "A big red blend of syrah, grenache, mourvedre and carignan from the south of France that’s filled with rustic fire and heart. A good wine at the discounted price, it needs some food to slap against it, perhaps some garlicky French-style sausages or a bean and sausage casserole."
