Origin
Saint Clair Family Estate is rapidly becoming one of the most reputed wineries in Marlborough, despite producing their first wines as recently as 1994. The Pioneer Block wines are sourced from outstanding parcels of fruit, identified by chief winemaker Matt Thomson.
Taste
Bright ruby in colour, aromas of raspberry and plum are complemented by a touch of spice. A luscious and soft palate with flavours of redcurrant, cherries and an added warmth from ageing in oak barrels.
Enjoy
This is perfectly matched with tuna or beef fillet with mushrooms and will cellar for the next two to five years.

    incredible quality!

I've been buying this for the last 4 years and year on year it doesn't fail to deliver. The Saint Clair range is amazing and I recommend their pioneer block pinot noirs.

    Stunning

When i buy wine i always read reviews from the Customers and not the employees, So after reading the reviews on here i decided 2 give it a go. New Zealand Pinot is probably my favourite wine (Marlborough) But this wine surpassed all expectations. Quite simply it was stunning. I bought Cloudy Bay as well for the 1st time and Next Sat i'm gonna compare the 2 of them against each other. Defo the most fruitest Pinot i've ever had, I'm in love

    Haven't had it yet!

It would be more sensible to wait until you deliver the wine before asking the customer what he thinks of it.

    Beautiful

We have tried all the 5 star decanter award winning wines from NZ for this vintage and this was by far the best, love it!

Staff Reviews

  • "Saint Clair lead the hunt for distinctive terroir in the New World, and their Pioneer Block range throws up some real gems. Add to this the supreme quality of New Zealand's 2009 vintage, and you have a beautifully drinking bargain that will continue improving for another 5 years. Luscious raspberry and plum fruit abound on the nose with a tantalising hint of sweet smokey spice. Impeccably balanced acidity and gorgeously round, long-lasting mouthfeel make this my favourite Pinot to date. When matched with grilled tuna steak, this wine may induce a foodgasm... "
