From densely planted vineyards on a perfect south-easterly slope near the village of San Leonino, this is a very traditional style of Chianti made from 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo. It has all the violet and red cherry characters you'd expect, with vibrant acidity and sweet spice lingering on a sumptuous finish. This will be a fantastic partner to roasts, barbeques and pasta dishes.

Thouroughly enjoyable

Sangiovese tannin and acidity certainly do not get out of hand with this juicy if slightly simple CC. Strong oak on the nose does not dominate the palate, and as recommended on the bottle, perfect with BBQ or pasta (I think pizza would be best though). Good value at 7.99.

A "serious" Chianti

I enjoyed this wine but found it rather heavier than most I've tasted before. Good tannins for structure to offset the sweet fruit. A fine match for roast beef or lamb, or venison.
