Grenache, Tempranillo

Origin
Bodegas Los Llanos is situated in the southern Spanish region of Valdepeñas, a source of excellent red wines. The Señorio de Los Llanos Gran Reserva is aged for 3 years in cask in the Bodegas' cellars, almost 40 feet underground, and only released when ready to drink.
Taste
Mature aromas of fruit, leather, tobacco and spice. A full palate with dark cherry and strawberry hints, cloves and an earthy character. Well integrated and smooth, with a lingering finish.
Enjoy
Ideal with grilled or roasted meats, especially lamb.

    Quality worth repeating

We drank this with a full flavoured Carbonnade de boeuf and the two were excellent together. Perhaps not quite such a full palate as expected but certainly a wine we would try again.

Been enjoying this wine for years !!!!

Very nice wine and well priced when on offer, try their "Pata Negra" Gran Reserva if you get chance.

    Lovely discovery

Tried the 2003 last night with a meat meal. A smooth drinking Tempranillo with lots of soft flavour. A bargain if you can live without the Rioja name...

    Rustic, Rioja-style red.

A little disappointed by this "Gran Reserva" (2002) from central Spain, as previous vintages had impressed me. Perhaps it was ill-matched with the tomato-based dish we ate it with? Imitation Rioja.

We've been buying (and drinking) this for more than 20 years. There may be slight variations in vintages but it is always good value and much better than cheap Riojas. It's a perfect 'food' wine and is especially good with roast lamb
