Grape

Cabernet Sauvignon

Origin
Luis Felipe Edwards bought his first vineyard, the 60-hectare Fundo San José estate in the Colchagua Valley, in 1976 and has since grown his winery into the largest family-owned winery in Chile. Today, the head winemaker is Nicolas Bizzarri, formerly of Mondavi.
Taste
Fruity flavours of plum and blackcurrant, with a cassis-like concentration, lifted by subtle green-pepper-like savoury tinges. Easy-going tannins provide a ripe and friendly mouthfeel.
Enjoy
Drink with simple, well-seasoned red meat dishes, such as merguez sausage.

    Cheap Chilean Red wine

I was a bit disappointed on tasting this wine. I was comparing it to cheap Chilean red wine from Sainsbury and Tesco. (Sainsbury had sold out of the wine I had been buying and Tesco have an impossibly wide delivery slot of 7-7). But I had a cold which may have affected my perception. My son-in-law thinks this wine improves when allowed to breathe and I'm inclined to agree. I haven't given up on it though! Majestic's delivery system was brilliant.

    Friendly, fruity, well-made, bargain

Recommended - great party wine, fine to drink on its own or with rich food.

    Acceptable cooking wine

The cabernet has a good structure and the wine is not too acidic. Perfect for cooking. But not a great wine to drink on its own - too much tannin.

    Lovely smooth wine

Shared our first bottle of this wine last night. Thoroughly enjoyed its mellow flavours. A good wine to accompany chicken, fish or just to drink on its own when relaxing with friends
