Grenache, Tempranillo

Origin
Founded in 1879 by two brothers, Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asúa, CVNE has remained in family hands, now in their fifth generation. CVNE has long been an innovator, embracing estate bottling and the extensive use of stainless steel.
Taste
A lively cherry-red appearance leading to a nose of light summer fruits. This wine has undergone a period of one year in oak giving beautiful hints of vanilla amongst fruity cherry notes.
Enjoy
A real treat, with a long and elegant finish. Partner with dry cured ham or roasted stuffed peppers.

    heart breaking

I know Cvne since I was 16, being one of the most famous brands in Spain, a sure value... but screw tap in a crianza... call me picky, but this wine can have three good years in the bottle with a margin for improving with the natural cork is bottled with in Spain

This wine is just as I remember drinking in Cadiz, full of lovely fruity flavour and at a really good price too.

    Crianza Cune Rioja

I have been drinking this for the past ten years regularly in the Canaries. Only to be found at Majestic in the UK this is a consistently good wine at a modest price. Tried it on recommendation from a spanish head waiter who explained it was an above average rioja but little known.Although crianza CVNE, it's known as Cune

    had this brand

years and years ago lets say 20 years ago on holiday half way up a windy road in Gomera in the Canaries its probably now a motorway to a beach with sunloungers on it..anyway its a really good brand and all their riojas are good and this one is not too expensive and above average quite smooth too which I like.

Press Reviews

  • "Cune stands for the Compañia Vinicola del Norte de España and having acquired a soft spot for its riojas since my first visit to Rioja in the late Seventies, it is good to find this bodega back on track. Crianza riojas are those that follow the Bodelais example with at least one year in oak barrels, plus another year of ageing before being released in the third year. Enjoy this vanilla-redolent American and French oak-aged, spicy, sweet, savoury, chocolate-scented wine for what it is - a red rioja steal."
