Fine Wine

Order fine and rare wines online from the comprehensive range stocked in our temperature-controlled Fine Wine Centre in St John's Wood, London.

Fine Wines can be mixed with "regular" wines to make up your case of twelve, although since this requires special distribution we ask that at least 6 bottles are marked "Fine Wine".

For advice, call our Fine Wine manager Clayton or his team on 020 7604 3143.

Specialist fine wine merchant Lay & Wheeler, a subsidiary of Majestic, offers an even broader range including en primeur, in-bond sales, storage and a fantastic Fine Wine Plan.

About buying Fine Wine at Majestic
Feel free to mix Fine Wines with “regular” wines to make up your order of 12 bottles (or more!) in total. However, at least 6 bottles must be Fine Wine products, because Fine Wines require special distribution from our temperature-controlled Fine Wine Centre in London. Original wooden cases not available ouside the M25.

"The Fay vineyard was planted in 1961 and acquired by SLWC in 1986. The vines were largely replanted in the mid 90s and are now in their prime, producing superb Cabernet fruit. On the nose, delicate violet aromas invigorate the bouquet of cherries, espresso, chocolate, truffles and underlying core of sweet cassis fruit. The rich and luscious palate displays a vast array of savoury notes, backed up by bitter chocolate, plum and cassis decadence. Long and silky smooth in the mouth, it’s drinking wonderfully now but will reward anyone with 10-15 years of patience."

"Regarded as one of the finest sites in Puligny Montrachet, 'Les Pucelles' neighbours the Grand Crus of Batard and Bienvenues. Similar in style to its big brothers, the 2007 'Les Pucelles' from Jomain is superb. A powerful nose of citrus peel, buttered toast, toasted hazelnuts and lemon curd. Gob-smackingly gorgeous, it is rich and powerful but maintains a wonderful elegance due to the fantastic mineral / citrus backbone. Sensational!!"

"A blend of Chardonnay and Grechetto and aged in French oak, Antinori's Cervaro is the benchmark for white wines of this style in the Umbria region. The 2007 Cervaro has a rich 'Burgundian' nose of vanilla, French toast, baked apples, peaches and cinnamon spice. The palate is exceptionally rich and textured, with stone fruits, creme brulee and sweet toasty oak. The finish is long and luscious, harmonised by palate cleansing acidity."

  • A bottle of Littorai Pinot Noir 2006 Cerise Vineyard - Majestic Wine

Littorai Pinot Noir 2006 Cerise Vineyard

Located on rocky soils in the Anderson Valley, yields from the Cerise vineyard are extremely low, making for a wine with great fruit intensity and the structure for lengthy ageing.

"A rich and powerful bouquet of blueberries, violets, Maraschino cherries, sweet American oak, Christmas cake spice and gunsmoke, with beautiful undertones of rose petals. The palate delivers flavour by the truck load - dark cherries, Cocoa, sweet blueberries and vanilla are kept in balance by a wonderful savoury earthiness. Gobsmackingly gorgeous, the finish is immense - full flavoured and extraordinarily long. Fantastic stuff!"

  • A bottle of Shafer Vineyards Chardonnay 2006/2007 Red Shoulder Ranch - Majestic Wine

Shafer Vineyards Chardonnay 2006/2007 Red Shoulder Ranch

..this offering reveals crisp, elegant, melony characteristics along with fresh fruit, good acidity, medium body, and plenty of tropical fruit and honeysuckle notes. Approximately 75% was barrel-fermented and 25% was aged in stainless steel, which gives the wine more crispness.' Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, 88 points

"A fresh and inviting nose of apples, melons, tropical fruits, blossom, and with a delicate whiff of oak. Only 25% of this wine sees any oak, allowing the fruit to really be the star of the show. On the palate, the wine is elegant and very precise with tropical fruit flavours dominating the oak tinged palate. Wonderfully balanced and packed with loads of flavour, this stunning Chardonnay is refreshing and long in the mouth."

  • A bottle of Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 2007 Blain-Gagnard - Majestic Wine

    Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 2007 Blain-Gagnard

While not as long-lived or as prestigious as Puligny, these wines are often better value and are more approachable when young. A fine example from a very good, small grower.

"A gorgeous nose of nectarines, blossom, tinned pineapple and honey. In the mouth, there is a delicate spritz that underlies the most sensational palate of honey, nectarines, baked apples and a hint of nutmeg. There is real sweetness here, however it seems quite restrained and needs time to develop in the bottle. One of Germany's finest."

"Ooh La La! This wine has a knockout nose of raspberries, espresso and asphalt. On the palate, the wine has even more to offer. Rich and full bodied, there is an abundance of raspberry and cherry fruit intermingled with the delicious flavours of espresso coffee. There are also nuances of licorice and tobacco on the very long and pleasurable finish. This is a fantastic Pomerol for the money. Ready to drink now, or stash it away for 4 - 5 years and treat yourself in a few years time."
