Majestic buys this, the most famous of all the Puligny Montrachet 1er Crus, direct from this up and coming Domaine. Les Pucelles borders the famous Grand Crus of Bâtard and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and its wines share many of the same rich, elegant and ageworthy characteristics. On the nose it displays citrus peel, white flowers, freshly buttered toast and wet stones. In the mouth there is precision and focus with a lovely richness and purity, with layers of white peach, greengage and minerals. It is drinking well now and will continue to hold for a further 6-8 years. Try it with soft cheese of any seafood in a rich sauce.

Similar in style to its big brothers, the 2007 'Les Pucelles' from Jomain is superb. A powerful nose of citrus peel, buttered toast, toasted hazelnuts and lemon curd. Gob-smackingly gorgeous, it is rich and powerful but maintains a wonderful elegance due to the fantastic mineral / citrus backbone. Sensational!!"
