A bright and inviting claret, with a nose of ripe black fruit and subtle hints of earth and forest floor. The mouth-feel is round and supple, yet enduring and possessing a pleasing complexity.
Elegantly structured claret, with aromas of pencil lead and sandalwood, and a bramble backbone. A good level of ripeness, medium body, and tannins of a firm, taut character.
This is the second wine of Château Malescot St-Exupéry, a quality troisième-cru property in Margaux.
Showing lovely aromas of bilberry and raspberry with some dark chocolate and coffee notes laced through the palate.
Traditionally a Cabernet-Merlot blend, today the wine employs a small percentage of Petit Verdot for a firm, age-worthy structure. Aged for 18 months in 70%-new oak, the wine is elegant and round, with great aromatic complexity.
Displaying the wild gamey side of Syrah rather than generous, jammy fruit. It will reward cellaring but even now it is an interesting wine with plenty of personality.
The second wine (of Pichon-Lalande), the 2007 Reserve de Comtesse, is a lighter, but equally soft and approachable version of the grand vin. 87 points. Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (April 2010).
Yalumba has pioneered the making of the demading Viognier grape in Australia, combining 20 years experience and 20 year old vines in the production of this succulent dry white.
Shows wonderful richness, density, depth and concentration, with pure, ripe, sharply focused wild berry, blackberry and black cherry fruit that has great structure....' 93 points - The Wine Spectator, www.winespectator.com
This is a wonderfully rich Chardonnay brimming with white nectarine and stone fruit character on the nose and throughout the palate.
'Supple, elegant and stylish, showing rich blackberry and blueberry fruit, with pretty loamy, earthy shadings. Drink now through 2013.' 92 points - The Wine Spectator, www.winespectator.com
