Grape

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Origin: The second wine of Château Cantenac Brown, made from pre-selected lots of the Château's younger vines, which are cultivated specifically for this earlier-drinking blend. Otherwise traditionally made, with 25%-new oak maturation for 13 months, followed by egg-white fining.

Taste: Elegantly structured claret, with aromas of pencil lead and sandalwood, and a bramble backbone. A good level of ripeness, medium body, and tannins of a firm, taut character.

Enjoy: Drinking well now, preferably with braised lamb.

"25% was matured in new oak, and it has lots of cedar and pencil-shaving quality, with firm black fruit and spice beneath. The palate has very refined, juicy blackcurrant fruit that is firm and focused, with lovely intensity and a smooth texture, the creamy tannins on the finish are lovely (The Wine Gang, Spring 2012)."
