84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15 % Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot. As ever the most elegant and classy of all the first growths, real pedigree here but one has to concentrate to understand its potential at this early stage in life. A suave wine with aromas of violets, crushed stones and dark berry fruit. Already the oak is fantastically well integrated, real presence and subtlety here and a lot more to come. Drink 2013-2025. 17.0 points (out of 20)

"38% of the crop went into the grand vin this year, 55% into Les Carruades. Ruby with quite a wide rim. Very light nose with real freshness. Fine, delicate, yet pretty supple. Not the race of Lafite's best vintages - a bit softer and less acidity. Drags down just a little on the end of the palate. Quite a bit of tannin. But I'd like a bit of lift and energy! There's more of that in the Duhart-Milon tasted alongside.... 17.5- points (out of 20)."

"Very new Lafite, with firm, yet polished tannins and subdued currant and sweet tobacco character. Long and structured. Racy. 89-92 points."
