En Primeur wines are still in barrel at the châteaux and are sold as ‘futures’ up to two years in advance of delivery. The price includes delivery in-bond to a dedicated storage account. Before your wine arrives in the UK you will have the option to specify duty-paid delivery to an address of your choice, but you will need to pay a release fee to cover duty, VAT and handling at the prevailing rates.

Description

60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. One of our favourite 'second wines', Alter Ego had a ripeness, depth of flavour and weight on the mid-palate which was missing in so many of the wines of Margaux. With a floral and feminine nose of mulberry and spice, the palate has great harmony and texture with refreshing acidity, medium weight tannins and a long finish. Drink it between 2011-20. 16.5 points (out of 20)

"Mid crimson. Light, lively super-brisk nose. Very round and easy and lovely already - pure airline stuff. Great texture. Great balance - just very slightly astringent on the finish but a gentle little thing. More freshness on the nose than the Ch Palmer itself. Very light but lively. 17- points (out of 20)."
