Château Certan de May

Château Certan de May 2006 Pomerol 6 x 75cl Bottles

One of the many excellent Pomerols from Christian Moueix this year, the 2006 Certan de May is a tightly woven, focused and impressive wine. In such extreme youth for what is an ambitious wine it was difficult to taste, but layers of silky fruit, mocha and fine tannins shone through. Wonderful balance. 16.7 points (out of 20)

"This property, which has come back strongly over recent vintages, has fashioned a tannic, virile, muscular, impressively endowed 2006 revealing a dense plum/ruby/purple hue, a distinctive earthy/licorice-scented nose, and plenty of black cherry, cassis, cedar, and spice notes. After 5-6 years of cellaring, it should keep for two decades or more."

"Sweet, big and bold and juicy. Quite open and loose compared with some other Pomerols in the Moueix stable. Slightly green tannins on the finish. Lacks a little intensity and nerve."

"Round and velvety, with a good amount of ripe fruit, toasty oak and coffee. Full and caressing. A bit dilute at the end. Almost 89-91."
