Vigneto Solimpia

Vigneto Solimpia 2006 Castello della Paneretta

Based in the Classico part of Chianti, this is a great example of what can be achieved from sun-drenched Tuscany. Solimpia is a pure Sangiovese wine that emphasises the fruit characteristics of the grape variety. This distinctively earthy flavoured wine offers aromas of bitter-sweet cherries and spice. Rich, with firm, dry, herbal tones on the finish.

"Even for outside experts the Italian wine scene can be confusing, and some brilliant wines can pass almost unnoticed. Do take time to notice this though. Like many Tuscan estates, interesting wines are made outside the rigid local wine laws, so this is carries no designation. However, it’s 100% Sangiovese made in a modern style – fresh, with some oak influence and an opulent, full-bodied mouthfilling character."
