Dense purple in colour, the nose boasts ripe black fruits with elegant toasted notes. Well structured and round on the palate, packed full of fruit with hints of liquorice.

This stunning Syrah-Grenache blend balances spicy morello cherry fruit and an elegant structure - could easily be mistaken for Châteauneuf-du-Pâpe.
"Despite being arguably the top producer in the Rhône, Michel Chapoutier still retains an interest in more modestly priced wines. At a recent selection tasting this leapt of the bench and demanded to be listed. The Syrah character adds a real depth and purity to the blend, although it’s not overpowering. For some, Syrah’s characteristic floral perfume is too much (although I love it) so a bit of balance probably helps give it a broader appeal. Interestingly, the wine is also organic - another Chapoutier crusade - although the earthy rusticity that this sometimes leads to is (thankfully) missing."

This blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Cabernet Franc is in fact a complex mix of differently finished wines, with multiple layers of barrel and tank ageing in the final cuvee.
