Taste
Aromas of fruitcake and spice, with red and black fruits on the textured palate and the oak-ageing lending hints of cigar box. A balanced structure and good length.

Kicks sand in tired French Bordeaux Blends

Tired of buying boring Bordeaux blends? Anthony's Yard, keeps true to Graham Beck name. Good robust wines made with exceptional fruit in perfect Robertson conditions. This area has very hot summers and truly gives this blend the ripeness of fruit, which very few French Bordeauxs can offer at a fraction of the price. This has become a family favourite and is great on its own or with rich meat dishes. Its the perfect partner to the traditional South African snack, Biltong.

    Great Bordeaux Blend

Bought two cases after trying at a friends dinner party. A very good alternative to the more pricey Bordeaux Chateaux. You will not be disappointed IMHO.

    Full flavour, reliable

I've bought this wine twice now. Good deep fruity flavour, and at a price that doesn't make me feel guilty drinking it. Will definitely buy again.

    Very Smooth

I found this to have a full rolling deep flavour without a harsh finish. I can only think that maybe the first chap got a corked bottle!

"Not only a fantastic name for a wine but also represents great value for what is a very smooth, easy drinking Bordeaux blend. The popularity and quality of South African Bordeaux Blends has hit a high of recent years, lets hope more of them start popping up at this price point!"

Press Reviews

  • Some stalky, green, olive-touched aromatics with a little resinous oak note but good black fruit (2009 Vintage))

"A Bordeaux blend, this has some stalky, green, olive-touched aromatics with a little resinous oak note but good black fruit. The palate is well balanced, with a nice earthy tannin and acid structure to balance the fruit (The Wine Gang, Spring 2012)."
