Riesling Loibner Steinertal Smaragd 2009 FX Pichler

Cool and lean in style, yet retaining the density and length of a great vintage. With notes of grapefruit and pepper on the nose, this is juicy and full of energy on the palate. It also has a stony quality that is reminiscent of a rich Mosel wine. This is a lovely wine, which will deliver greatness with bottle age.

Riesling Ried Schütt Smaragd 2009 Weingut Emmerich Knoll

This has a very pretty nose of white flowers and ripe citrus fruit. This is concentrated, but balanced, with structural chalky minerality and a lime zest acidity that carries through to the very long finish.

Saarburger Rausch Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel 2007 Zilliken Saar

Exuberant on the nose, yet refined, this has notes of yellow plum and raisin, as well as a touch of caramel. On the palate, there are notes of grapefruit citrus and greengage fruit, as well as the more complex notes found in great botrytised wines.
