Grape

Chardonnay

Origin
The Lindauer Special Reserve range is a step up from the standard range, spending 24 months on its lees rather than the usual 15 months. This Blanc de Blancs NV comes from 100% Chardonnay grapes, which also give Champagne their elegance.
Taste
Elegant citrus fruit, a slight creaminess and fine, soft bubbles make this balanced sparkling wine a real bargain and a fantastic, if slightly lighter alternative, to Champagne.
Enjoy
Brilliant as an apéritif due to its subtle elegance, it's also a superb partner to shellfish.

    Lindauer

I would have to disagree with Malcolm with this one - sorry Malcolm! I may have have a duff bottle but I found this wine very thin, too acidic and lacking in fruit to balance it out. If you have to chill a white wine to a inch of its life to make it drinkable then it isnt worth buying. Get the Codorniu raventos at the same price-knocks spots of this

    Infinitely preferable to cheap champagne

This is the ideal fizz for enjoying as an aperitif. Much better than any of the cheaper champagnes I've tried.

    Better than champagne!

A wonderful fizz, much better than cheaper champagnes. Has beautiful colour and delicious dry taste. Perfect for parties!

    excellent

Dry, high acidity, creamy bubbles, med-low alcohol, med body, lemony and perceptible lees/toast, long finish. Just a little less toasty than classic champagne, but great value.

    Fantastic Fizz

My wife and I have made it our mission in life to try all cava's and champagne's in the world - it's a tough job, but someone has to do it! After 6 years of extensive research, this is the best cava/champagne you get for under a £15 - in our opinion. Our tastes are on the dry / very dry side - to help our favourite champagne is Veuve.

    Okay....

Quite dry, lacking true depth. Slightly harsh undernotes, but still drinkable! Probably compares well against a cheap champagne.

  • "A revelation. For years the cheaper Antipodean sparklers have been a crashing disappointment, but this new Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay-sourced champagne-method chardonnay from Lindauer, with lots of fat, ripe and really rather fine, smoky, lemony, zesty fruit on board, is a delight. Precisely the sort of superior, yet keenly priced, crowd-pleaser that April party hosts need."
