Grenache

Origin
The traditionally bush-trained vines from this part of the Nekeas Valley are between 70 and 100 years old, and yield low numbers of high quality berries. The Atlantic influenceshere contribute to higher acidity, which lends balance to the quick-ripening Garnacha.
Taste
With excellent focus and structure, the wine displays intense, vibrant and fleshy blackberry and raspberry fruit, and ample tannins that add texture and a streak of bitter chocolate flavour.
Enjoy
Enjoyable on its own, but also benefits from being paired with a big, flame-grilled rib-eye steak.

    A bit disappointing

I found this to be a bit thin, it somehow lacked flavour. An okay bottle, but nothing like as good as the Agramont Crianza Navarra which was £1 less per bottle.

    Excellent

Bought a couple of bottles after a quick taste in store. It was absolutely terrific with steak. Going back to get another couple of bottles this week.

    Top quality

This is a very smooth Garnacha with lots of fruit and flavour, silky textured and full of character. Complimented roast loin of pork perfectly.

    Great value and delicious!

This wine always gets a thumbs up from me and anyone I share it with! They always think it's more expensive than it is, and as Grenache/Garnacha, it's not a common grape variety to have as a sole wine, so it's a bit different and interesting.

    Perfectly balanced

Very smooth and the abundance of acidity gave it an identity that we weren't expecting. We wish we'd bought much more of this - it's the best Spanish wine we've bought from Majestic yet (and that includes the highly rated Emilio Moro). Stock up on it while it's £7.49, you won't regret it.

    Beautifully smooth

I love this Grenache. It's so much smoother than I expected and lots of lovely cherry & blackberry flavour. We had it with lamb and it was perfect. Sensational value at £7!

Press Reviews

  • "Sourced from the northern end of Navarra, this cooler climate Garnacha is one of my favourite sub-£7 Spanish reds. Light yet spicy, with a hint of reduction, red fruits and crunchy acidity. 89 points"

  • "I'm not sure I've ever come across a better garnacha (aka grenache) at this price. Produced from very old bush vines in Navarra, it's full of character, tastes of fresh raspberries and pepper, and has a lovely silky texture."

  • "Made from old vine garnacha, this is a full-bodied Spanish red from Navarra, full of raspberry-sweet fruitiness with peppery notes and textured richness."
