Château d'Armailhac

Château d'Armailhac 2007 Pauillac, 5ème Cru Classé 12 x 75cl Bottles

54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. From the Mouton stable, which seemed to make a good fist of a challenging year. With a classic Pauillac nose of mint, cassis and cedar the palate has freshness and richness with well integrated structure and intelligent use of oak. Will be a lovely medium term drink and should be good value for this most prestigious of communes. Drink 2012-2018. 15.1 points (out of 20)

"A pretty successful year for Armailhac. Big and bloody on the nose - real opulence and some flavour and character! Hooray! Almost pipe tobacco.... Ripe, present tannins. Dry but not drying. Hint of ashtrays which doesn't sound very nice but let me assure you that it is such a relief to find a wine with some positive flavour... Much gentler than wine Croizet Bages. Just a little flat on the finish. 16+ points (out of 20)."

"A little short right away, but shows attractive berry and chocolate character on the nose and palate. Medium body, soft tannins and a long, caressing finish. Slightly hollow in the mid palate. 86-89 points."
