Beaumes-de-Venise is a pretty village in Vaucluse and the vines used to make this wine, which have an average age of forty years, are spread over the south-east side of the 'Dentelles de Montmirail'. Made from 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah this is a full-bodied, spicy and warming wine, with plenty of ripe berry fruits, and a rich, smooth texture.

"Thanks to a combination of nature and nurture, Rhône reds have a warming, threedimensional quality that it is rare to find elsewhere. This delicious example, made from a blend of Grenache with a generous helping of syrah (aka shiraz), is from an area in the south of the region better known for pudding wines and sometime lacklustre reds. This, however, has larger-than-life, plumy flavours, that are a shining example of the perfect winter."
