Origin
Château du Cléray have 30 hectares of vineyards which stand on the characteristic sandy soils of the commune of Vallet. The estate has been run by the Sauvion family since 1935, and is today run by winemaker Pierre Sauvion, graduate in oenology at Bordeaux University.
Taste
Steely and focused, this shows its class from the very first aromas of well defined citrus and stone fruit, flowing seamlessly into notes of wet stone. Dry and incisive on the palate, with great length.
Enjoy
A must with haddock, crusted sardines and other fresh classic fish dishes.

Press Reviews

  • Mouthwateringly elegant (2011 Vintage)

"A new era has brought with it some mouthwateringly elegant, ripe, yeasty, floral, Granny Smith-charged muscadets, just like this one. (Jane MacQuitty, The Times, 13th October 2012)"

  • A really lovely Muscadet (2011 Vintage)

"A really lovely Muscadet, rich in comparison to some of the more severe ones and redolent of almond flowers. (Nina Caplan, The Telegraph, 2nd October 2012)"

  • Hallmarks of a refreshing spritz (2011 Vintage)

"From the Sauvion family of Château du Cléray, this is an intense Muscadet with the sur lie hallmarks of a refreshing spritz and a dry, almost briny character that sets the mouth watering as soon as you taste it; a fine, stony mineral finish adds to the bone dry aftertaste. (The Wine Gang, www.thewinegang.com, August 2012)"
