Grape

Chenin Blanc

Origin
Winemaker Niël Groenewald's exceptional pocket of old, low-yielding Chenin bush vines produces a wine deserving its own unique identity. The Bernard Series celebrates the legend of Bernard Podlashuk, the founder and the original winemaker, and is matured in French oak.
Taste
Tropical fruit and citrus, limestone and oak aromas give way to a refreshing, powerful and rounded palate. Vanillin spices with honeysuckle, layers of fruit and a lingering finish.
Enjoy
Enjoy over the next two years with pan fried fish, pork chops or scallops.

Great alternative to chardonnay or Sauv. Blanc

This well-rounded chenin blanc blows the socks off any alternative to chardonnay or sauvignon blanc I have tasted in ages.

    SA Chenins can be good!

This may not be my favourite SA Chenin Blanc but it's certainly a good one, full bodied and with enough complexity to work well with food (especially spicy food) or as a moreish glugger! Well done to Majestic for stocking this regularly.

Wonderful - a rich wine at a great price

Was about to check out my trolley at Molesey branch today and saw this wine and took two on impulse. So glad I did - I hadn't realised Chenin Blanc could be so rich and interesting. And when I look online I see others are offering it at £16.89, so Majestic has it at a bargain price! Get some in, as they say in the Army

    Wondreful

Never reviewed a wine on here before but this one is remarkable. Rounded, floral and very different. I'm buying a case!

    So good it is frightening

Our chosen wine for our wedding. Knocked the socks off the competition, and we tasted a lot of wines! Everybody loved it

    Chenin Blanc

Delightful dry white. Delicious chilled as an aperitif and equally as an accompaniment with fish. Highly recommended shared with friends.

Staff Reviews

  • Quality and value

"One of my wine revelations. I had a vertical tasting of 2007-2010 of this wine and was blown away by the complexity and rich flavour of what an aged Chenin can offer. Buy a case, drink some now or over the year but keep some back and let it surprise you. You won't be disappointed."

Press Reviews

  • "Smashing, bold, buttery, big-food-suitable white with lively, fat, spicy, appley fruit."

  • "... is impressively opulent with its honeyed appley flavours."
