From the northernmost wine producing region in Chile, the perfect growing climate of the Elqui Valley gives this fantastic Syrah genuine 'Rhône-style' characteristics of black pepper, blackberries and a distinct meaty undercurrent. A juicy, rich and full-bodied palate with notes of cassis, spice and well integrated oak are married with soft, ripe tannins and superb acidity which create an elegant and rounded wine in the mouth. Perfect with steak or hard cheeses, this wine also won a Gold medal and Trophy for best Syrah at the Wines of Chile awards 2008.
"If you're a fan of red from the Northern Rhône, look at a map and find Elqui in northern Chile. High altitude, low vigour soils and intense sunlight are already producing outstanding wines and the current investment by wineries in the region will only reveal more beauties in time. This wine is a great start. Dominated by peppery black fruit with leather, smoke, graphite and vanilla from the well-knit oak regime, this wine has a wonderful smoky finish. Savoury, silky, sexy, a great wine to turn Winter into Wonderland."
