Origin
This estate is owned by Nicolas and Miren Lorgeril, renowned Languedoc vignerons, and direct descendants of Cabardès' Pennautier family. This region has terraced slopes of schist, limestone and granite, and is hence an exceptional terroir, sought after by many winemakers.
Taste
Vivid crimson in colour, with a nose dominated by the Grenache's jammy raspberry aromas. On the palate, the Syrah and Carignan add some spice and tannin, resulting in a well structured and racy wine.
Enjoy
Serve with some lamb chops, well seasoned and sprinkled with thyme, or a rare rib steak.

    "Little wines like this are undoubtedly useful, especially when you can buy two at £5.99 each until end May 2011. A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, it is brightly focused, peppery and herby on the nose with a cool raspberry fruitiness. Crisp, moreish, food-friendly on the palate, the grippy acidity and tannins focusing the modest fruit. Bowl of chilli? Plate of spag bol? Rating: 85/100 Goes with: Pasta & Risotto, Red meat & Dark game."

  • "Not many bottles priced at around six quid offer the kind of character you'll find in this bottle from the Côtes du Roussillon down in the far southwest of France. It's a mix of grenache, syrah and carignan that has a very appealing aniseed/liquorice edge to its red fruit and slightly dry, grippy tannins. A plate of cold meat or some spicy sausages would fill it out nicely."
