Grape

Grenache, Syrah or Shiraz

Origin
Costières de Nîmes has more in common with the Rhône across the river than it does with the wines of Languedoc immediately neighbouring it. Château Guiot lies just outside the city of Nîmes, in the heart of this appellation.
Taste
Deep purple hue, a beautifully scented nose with herby aromas, lashings of juicy forest fruits and spicy, rich berry flavours on the palate and a good, smooth finish.
Enjoy
Equally good with anything from shepherds pie, meatballs or moussaka style vegetarian dishes.

Red Wine with of a Body of C

    Outstanding value

Plenty of fruit on the nose and full of flavour. A big tick for south of france wines which in my opinion offer far better value than bordeaux

    Absolute Gem

For the last 15 years, it's seemed as if the Antipodeans have been leading the way in addressing wine styles but every so often, we find a rare gem of Franco heritage, and this wine, with every sip, is an absolute gem. It's soft, lightly spiced, delicious to drink on any occasion, and is very much undervalued.

    Hhmm..

For me this wine disappoints; the 13.5% abv made this wine quite hot on the palate, and killed any sense of freshness or vivacity it could have had. Sorry; I won't be getting it again.

    Disappointed

Having read the other reviews and been recommended I decided to give this a go. I thought that it seemed over heated and somewhat artificial in the aromas and although there was definitely berry fruit in there the finish slipped away too quickly. I know it is only £6-7 a bottle but there are far better wines at that price and I was left thinking it was a bit something-of-nothing...I agree with other comments re the value in southern french wine over Bordeaux but for me this wasn't a particularly good example of that :(

    Lovely, smooth and good value

We first had this wine in an excellent restaurant and were delighted to find it at a very reasonable price at Majestic. It is lovely, smooth and fruity and goes down nicely. Friends we have introduced to it have been equally impressed.
