Syrah, or shiraz, depending on where you are in the world, is incredibly robust, producing rich, spicy wines. 'Syrah' is commonly associated with the Northern Rhone, produces rich peppery wines, whilst ‘Shiraz’, associated with the New World, and in particular South Australia, produces jammy, heavier wines, often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Viognier, to soften the style.

This wine was a winner in the 2009 Top Vins de Pays competition and tastes much better than the Best Red in Show for a fraction of the price!
Ripe red fruit with a spicy and complex character. Drinking very well at the moment but will develop beautifully with a couple of years ageing.
"The unlikely blend of Bordeaux and Rhône varieties with a dash of pinotage give this red an unmistakable South African feel. Bramble fruits and white pepper dominate on the nose whilst subtle undertones of juniper, ginger, and morello cherry emerge on the palate. A powerful wine with impressive harmony, this is a perfect match for the more esoteric meats from the farmers' market. "

This is the second wine of Château d'Aussières, an ancient Languedoc property, which was revived by Bordeaux powerhouse Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 1997.
From vineyards that lie around 30km north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, owned and run by the Sabon family, now in its third generation of winemakers.
This red is a seriously classy wine, almost Bordelais in style, but with extra depth and concentration from the Rhône varietals. As a bonus: it's organic too!
Bursting with black fruit aromas such as blackberry, plum and cherry with underlying soft notes of sweet spices, chocolate and cedar. This is a wine with great body and finesse, velvety ripe tannins and a long finish.
A soft fruity red with ripe berry fruit and gentle spicy flavours in a mid weighted easy drinking style.
