This wine comes from two selected vineyard sites close to the Eden Valley township. Deep crimson with purple hues, with a nose of aromatic black cherry fruit and subtle hints of Chinese five spice. Rich, ripe and softly textured on the palate, with smooth, dry tannins.

This muscular wine displays an intense blend of firm tannins, inky black fruit and lifted spice and floral aromas, smoothed and integrated by the influence of over a year in French oak barriques.

Gigondas 2009/2010 Domaine de Notre Dames des Pallières

An elegant nose of black fruit is followed by a remarkable palate of blackcurrant, thyme, liquorice and tobacco characters. Warming peppery spice on the finish makes this perfect with casseroles.

Domaine de Villemajou 2009 Corbières Boutenac, Gérard Bertrand

Aromatically rich and complex, with jammy blackcurrant fruit and hints of roasted coffee bean, leather and soft spice notes. Round and soft on the palate, with supple, well-weighted tannins.

This wine was named in honour of one of the estate's former owners, Reg Merriman Nicholson, who lived and worked as winemaker at Rustenberg for 30 years, the wine has rich fruit flavours and bold tannins.

The maritime climate of the Walker Bay area produces a slower-ripened Shiraz, with a little more restraint than those from many hotter areas, allowing that classic white pepper spiciness to shine through on the nose.
