Syrah, or shiraz, depending on where you are in the world, is incredibly robust, producing rich, spicy wines. 'Syrah' is commonly associated with the Northern Rhone, produces rich peppery wines, whilst ‘Shiraz’, associated with the New World, and in particular South Australia, produces jammy, heavier wines, often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Viognier, to soften the style.
