A white-Bordeaux beater
"I should probably stake my hat out and admit that I'm a big fan of Rustenberg's wines, across the board they continue to bottle excellent quality wines, and this is no exception.
While I'm a big fan of the expressive character of New Zealand Sauvignon, I do sometimes prefer an elegant symphony to a bombastic chorus. Classically, White Bordeaux has fit that bill, and this South African equivalent from Rustenberg is an absolute blinder: Sauvignon, dashed with a touch of honeyed Semillon. Passionfruit reaches out gently from the glass and mingles with herbacious green aromas and a lovely gooseberry and honey trickle following suit.
It's almost voluptuous, but still fresh and vibrant, and very much the kind of wine I like to bring with me to a dinner party when I want to make a good impression."
