SAUVIGNON BLANC

Sauvignon Blanc is cultivated all around the world, but is particularly successful in the New Zealand region of Malborough, where wines have an unmistakable gooseberry character, and the Loire Valley regions of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé where the wines have a minerally and herby style. Although typically fermented in steel, Sauvignon can also be oaked; a technique used in the Napa Valley, (California) to produce Fumé Blanc.

"The 1998 Yquem (95 points) is a great success...Medium to full-bodied, it is not as sweet as the biggest/richest Yquem vintages, but it is gorgeously pure, precise, and strikingly complex. " Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
