SAUVIGNON BLANC
Sauvignon Blanc is cultivated all around the world, but is particularly successful in the New Zealand region of Malborough, where wines have an unmistakable gooseberry character, and the Loire Valley regions of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé where the wines have a minerally and herby style. Although typically fermented in steel, Sauvignon can also be oaked; a technique used in the Napa Valley, (California) to produce Fumé Blanc.

Pale gold with a silvery shimmer. And open and intense nose, offering notes of blackcurrant and citrus fruit, with background vegetal hints. A fresh citrussy attack on the palate and seductive minerality. Drink with pungent goat's or sheep's cheeses, or fine seafood.

Our buyers have secured a parcel of only 100 cases of the 2011 vintage from this superb producer. Vincent Pinard's family estate has only 12.5ha of Sauvignon vines, planted on the calcareous slopes of the Loire valley, meticulously tended without pesticides. An understated, mineral-rich nose, leads seamlessly into a fresh and intense palate, with great balance and purity. Crisp and clean, with subtle nuances of blackcurrant leaf, amid vibrant citrus flavours. Do this wine justice by pairing with fresh oysters, or delicate and creamy goat's cheeses.
