Grape

Sangiovese

Origin
From the towered village of San Gimignano, this Sangiovese provides a robust yet rounded interpretation of a a classic Tuscan Chianti. Whilst the white grape Vernaccia dominates plantings in this area, there are currently plans for a new DOC Rosso di San Gimignano.
Taste
With a medium-full weight in the mouth and lashings of ripe red-cherry fruit, this modern style of Sangiovese still maintains a classic backbone of rounded tannins and sweet spice.
Enjoy
Drinking very well now or over the next couple of years, this round yet ripe wine matches well with a variety of game or cured meats.

    poor interpretation

an OK swigger with nothing that excels or marks it out as a ten pound bottle of sangiovese. As a chianti 'interpretation' I would suggest sticking to the real thing. As a smooth Italian red with little personality - its, OK....

Really Very Good For The Price

Can't recommend this enough. I normally pay £12-£15 per bottle when buying a case of wine so this is exceptional value for money. As mentioned before, it's great with Italian tomato based food or as just your everyday glass of red. Distinctly average it is not.

Great Value for money especially at the offer price

This is a great wine to accompany tomato based italian sauces . I find it consistant and never disapointing. A good day to day easy gluging wine. It is very much on my buy list and a regular in my cellar.

Do not Pass this one by

If you want a wine to go with your Pasta and Pizza suppers that is a cut above - this is the one. Bags more character than your run of the mill Sangiovese.

    Distinctly Average

I was disappointed in this average wine. It has little personality and would not tempt me again.

  • This is a well-made example of Tuscany's most famous white wine (2011 Vintage)

"We're not talking fine wine here, but this is a well-made example of Tuscany's most famous white wine and Italy's most famous from the Vernaccia grape. It has the grape variety's characteristic nutty and herbal flavours and appealing apple and pear fruit. Rating: 87/100 (The Wine Gang, www.thewinegang.com, July 2012)"
