Origin
Spolverino means 'feather duster' in Italian, and is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Black Rooster; the emblem of Chianti Classico. Had the wine been bottled with a cork rather than a screwcap, the producers could have applied to have the wine classified as a Chianti Classico, hence the light hearted dig on the label.
Taste
Intense red cherry fruit on nose and palate, interwoven with notes of tobacco and violet. Medium-full bodied, with a juicy richness and snappy, youthful acidity.
Enjoy
Best with cured or barbecued pork, or with the savoury flavours of Prosciutto and other cured meats.

    Great wine for a Tenner

    Ok, so i've only had 4 bottles of this so far, but it's a corking wine for under a tenner. (it's on offer as I write). Is it worthy of a twelve and a half quid price tag. Probably not - but if you like something that's smooth, a bit interesting and not very Tuscan - this is it! (I'd revise the rating to 3 stars when the price goes back up)
