Origin
Trimbach is a superb family-run producer that dates back to 1626. Their wines typically have very fine fruit and high acidity. They describe Riesling as the 'King of the wines of Alsace'.
Taste
Developed on the nose and showing a hint of mineral flavour, good ripeness and acidity. White peach, quince, grapefruit and lemon all come through on the palate and the finish is clean and dry.
Enjoy
Try this with lightly spiced Asian dishes or smoked mackerel.

    great stuff

excellent entry level wine from trimbach. great depth of flavour and a lovely acidity. A great example of why Riesling should be much more popular in the UK

My guest dinner guests loved this

I served this at a lunch party and all my guests loved it - a real show stopper. Each mouthful had so many flavours - you have to sip and savour it - not gulp it!

    disappointment

Not at all like other sweet riesling wines, bitter taste with a lame flavour of a corked wine. Must say I can not recommend this wine at all being a riesling lover.

Referring to the previous comment "Not at all like other sweet riesling wines". That is because it is a DRY Riesling (the scale of 1 to 10, 1 being driest and 10 the sweetest). This is marked as a 2 (just off dry). It is a very nice bottle, as all Trimbach wines are, refreshing with a great balance of acidity and intense flavour.

Press Reviews

  • A triumph (2010 Vintage)

"Twelve generations of Trimbachs have made gorgeous, dry, structured rieslings in Ribeauvillé. This stunning, steely, lime zest and kerosene-laced riesling is a triumph. (Jane MacQuitty, The Times, 2nd March 2013)"

  • Best whites I have tried all summer (2010 Vintage)

"This is one of the best whites I have tried all summer. Its vibrant acidity and citrus-stuffed palate slaked the thirst like no other wine; these fresh attributes are equally good at pairing with fragrant herbs such as dill or mint. (Recipe match to Herb pie) (Hamish Anderson, The Telegraph, 8th September 2012)"

  • Delicate yet full-flavoured riesling (2010)

"Beyond the aromatics, there’s a pristine fruit quality to this delicate yet full-flavoured riesling from the brilliant Alsace house of Trimbach; its exotic fruitiness is brought to a bone-dry conclusion. (Anthony Rose, The Independent, 1st September 2012)"

  • Great individuality and a dry, clean, mineral purity (2010 Vintage)

"While New World Riesling has become ultra-fashionable, here is the original version from a French outfit that has been making serious wines in Alsace since, so it says, 1626. Great individuality and a dry, clean, mineral purity from this "entry-level" bottle, with full-on flavours of lemons, quince and grapefruit. (Terry Kirby, The Independent, 9th September 2012)"

  • Wonderful, refreshing, assured Alsace riesling (2010 Vintage)

"Wonderful, refreshing, assured Alsace riesling. It has magnificent breadth and eddies, like a wide, slow river. It tastes of preserved limes, intense and succulent but with a slight edge of dried peel, and has what wine tasters like to call a mineral undertow. Not too sweet, either. (Victoria Moore, The Telegraph, 1st September 2012)"
