Grape

Pinot Grigio

Origin
Sourced from the diverse terroirs of Gisbourne, Hawkes Bay, Marlborough and Waipara, this Pinot Grigio has the varietal expression typical of Villa Maria wines, yet the style pays homage to the crisp and fruit-focused wines of Alsace.
Taste
Intense aromas of green apple, pear and ripe quince, nuanced with subtle spice. The palate is gently off-dry, accenting the ripe fruit, with crisp acidity providing a mouthwatering finish.
Enjoy
A great partner for soft, mild cheeses, or chicken salad with fresh herbs.

    Very good

As a Scot living in the SE, of course I'd rather pay £6 and also say it isn't very good in an attempt to reduce sales and lower the price BUT, we've bought dozens of bottles of this wine so that says it all. Wife likes it; younger daughter who's decided that Chardonnay is passé likes it and Ian gets a quiet life :)

Top marks for a top wine

This pinot grigio is the best I have tasted so far.. It is full of flavour, unlike many grigios that taste well, wet and tasteless. Its fruity and a little spicey which in my and my wifes opinion gives it the edge. Very clean taste too.

    Rich, well-balanced and enjoyable

Ignore the "Grigio" branding - this is more like a good dry Alsace Gris. Complex and rich flavours, well-balanced. Highly recommended for richer foods or on its own.

  • Mellow pear and orange flavours (2011 Vintage)

"The result is more like a pinot gris, with mellow pear and orange flavours, length, smoothness and depth, all enlivened with a prickle of acidity. (Brian Elliott, Scotland on Sunday, 7th October 2012)"
