Origin
The Aspen range is named after the Aspen tree, with its characteristic quivering leaves, sometimes referred to as 'chattering tongues'. This Merlot is sourced from a range of vineyard sites and sees little oak, giving a fruity, early drinking style.
Taste
An inviting nose of plum, earth and eucalyptus leads into a palate of blackberry and raspberry, with a supple texture and a satisfying fruit sweetness.
Enjoy
Pair with all manner of meat dishes and rich pasta sauces.

    Excellent value

Better than equivalent supermarket Australian Merlot. This wine is more complex and less fruit driven (i.e. many New World Merlot wines are like alcoholic Ribena).

    Basic & Honest

Not the most outstanding of wines, but acceptable as an evening "quaffing" drink, which went doew quite well. Slightly lacking in body, though would not be described as "thin". An amenable accompaniment to and evening with the tele !

    thin, weak and vegetative

I know this was just a fiver, but I found the wine weak in every way: structure, color and taste. For me, the very green peppery/barnyard nose was big turnoff. A disappointment.

(rated as a party wine - but it's an honest table wine as well)

This is a very acceptable party wine - but, although I would perhaps reduce the rating, it makes a perfectly honest table wine too - when you don't need to impress your boss.

First purchase from majestic - after this probably the last

£4.99 is a £1 more than I normally pay from Merlot from other supermarkets. This wine is poor - bland and dull. I will go back to Asda for good value for money wine - and I dont need to buy 6 bottles either

So good I ordered six more bottles immediately!

Very easy drinking and exceptional value for money at £4.99!
