Although Malbec's roots are in Bordeaux, its only existence in France today is in the Southern regions of Cahors and Cabardes, where it is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot to produce rich, tannic Bordeaux style wines. Malbec is now mostly planted in the Mendoza region of Argentina, where it produces deep coloured, full bodied wines.
