Syrah or Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Malbec

Origin
If this blend looks like a kind of Bordeaux/Languedoc hybrid, that's because it is: Cabardès is the only AC permitted to use such a blend of Mediterranean and Atlantic grapes. Each variety is vinified separately before blending, integrating over 14 months in French oak.
Taste
This is a classy and well structured wine: deep garnet red in colour, with a power and harmony to the flavours and aromas of blackcurrant, with spice and chocolate notes.
Enjoy
Partner with hearty stews, cassoulet, or magret de canard and other grilled or roasted meats.

    Good, well made and consistant

Always a reliable wine both this and the standard wine imitation claret with a couple of typical Languedoc varieties. so tends to the softer tanins wine good fruit keeps quite well and improves if kept for 12 to 18 months. Only good value when on offer

    Deliciously rich and fruity.

We really enjoyed this with a cassoulet made with duck confit. It was also wonderful with cheese: Roquefort and Comté.

    Good Value

Slowly working my way back into French wines following some shockers that forced me into southern hemisphere wines that gave consistency. This wine however has given me the confidence to try more. Well worth the money, smooth and rich on the tongue.

  • Bordeaux Elegance meets Southern Warmth

"This combination of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cab Franc, Grenache and Malbec is a Bordeaux meets Languedoc blend and certainly brings the best of both worlds together. On the nose there are intense blackcurrant and plum aromas, plus hints of black pepper and a rich chocolatey streak running through the centre. This richness certainly continues on to the palate, where the dark, brambly fruit flavours are complemented by a touch of pepper, the oak is well integrated, adding hints of cedar. Although this is a full-bodied wine, the tannins are fine grained and smooth and the finish is long. The perfect partner for a hearty beef stew!"
