Malbec

Malbec

Although Malbec’s roots are in Bordeaux, its only existence in France today is in the Southern regions of Cahors and Cabardes, where it is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot to produce rich, tannic Bordeaux style wines. Malbec is now mostly planted in the Mendoza region of Argentina, where it produces deep coloured, full bodied wines.

Benmarco Malbec 2006 Dominio del Plata, Mendoza

A deep, rich red, this wine has a palate of black cherry, currants and blackberries with notes of vanilla and coffee. Great body and roundness with a long and delightful finish.

"From the heart of Malbec production, Mendoza, this is a great example of how Malbec should be. Rich in flavour and full bodied, with a velvety texture on the palate and a lovely perfumed character, this wine is worth spending a little bit extra on to enjoy with a hearty meal as the nights start to draw in."
