'More evolved than Beaucastel's wines tend to be, it reveals a healthy dark plum/ruby color, notes of licorice, meat juices, smoked game, black currants and garrigue, medium to full body, silky tannins, good freshness, surprising depth for the vintage and a long finish. The Ironstone Pressings GSM 2007 d'Arenberg, McLaren Vale

A blockbusting Rhône-inspired blend of 70% Grenache, 25% Shiraz and 5% Mourvedre, d'Arenberg's vineyards are managed in a very traditional way, with minimal irrigation and no soil cultivation resulting in naturally low yields and superb flavour concentration.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de Mon Aieul 2005 Pierre Usseglio

This wine is part of an Exclusive Parcel secured through our Fine Wine Centre. This hugely concentrated, muscular wine is very powerful, excruciatingly tannic at present, but super-rich. Corbières La Combe des Oliviers 2009/2010

Hot and dry summers in the 'garrigue' landscape of Corbières give this chunky red (made from 70% Mourvedre and the rest Syrah and Grenache ) a whiff of rosemary and thyme alongside the blackberry and plum flavours.

Gigondas 2009/2010 Domaine de Notre Dames des Pallières

An elegant nose of black fruit is followed by a remarkable palate of blackcurrant, thyme, liquorice and tobacco characters. Warming peppery spice on the finish makes this perfect with casseroles.

Château La Dournie 2009 St Chinian

This wine has a wonderfully expressive nose ranging from black cherry and prune through to nutmeg and mocha. The palate displays freshness with persistent dark berry flavours and an earthy spiciness.

Domaine Ott Rouge 2005 Château Romassan, Bandol

Mourvedre, Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah from Domaines Ott's Romassan estate have been blended together to create this classic red. The dominant Mourvedre gives this wine its spicy, animal personality and a generous bouquet of blackcurrant and morello cherry. It is rich in tannin, warm, and highly balanced. Makes for remarkable quaffing with beef ribs, spicy dishes and cheese.

Aged in the famous cellars of Ogier Caves de Fournalet in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this wine is dark ruby with a complex nose of spices and hints of pear.
