Origin
This house was established in 1750 and owns substantial land across Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses. From two vineyard plots around the Fleurie village, granite and sandstone soils provide the minerality and drainage required to sustain the vine.
Taste
Deep ruby in colour, with intense aromas of red berries especially redcurrant, and a hint of sweet spices. The refined tannins integrate well into the sweet berry finish.
Enjoy
This Fleurie goes well with cold charcuterie and mild cheeses, and will drink well over the next couple of years.

More complex than your average Beaujolais

Floral nose with hints of aniseed. More robust than expected with juicy tannins and acid strawberry. I enjoyed with sushi on a summer's evening in the park.

    Excellent Value Fleurie

Tricky to get the temperature quite right on this - it actually needs to be a degree or two cooler than you'd think to be at its best - but find the sweet spot and it's a class act: fresh red berries and cool leafy greens, but with a spicy note in the background, very soft tannins and a hint of minerality. Miles better than a bog-standard Beaujolais Villages at not much more money. Excellent value.

    Very drinkable

A very pleasant wine also much appreciated by my teenage offspring who are beginning to learn able wines.

    Good light wine

Good light wine for summer day. Great partner for some fish dish as an alternative to whites

  • "Lovely, bright cherry fruit. A little background of game and earthiness. Bold and fruity palate too, with lots of sweetness but a spicy, schisty, grilled fruit savour too. Delicious Cru Beaujolais showing the Gamay grape at its buoyant, fruity best. Buy two bottles save £4 until end October 2009 = £7.99 Score: 88/100 "

  • "Fleurie, a posh sub-region of Beaujolais, is made of Gamay, the grape banned by neighbouring Burgundy since the 14th century for being “of very great and horrible harshness”. Which hardly describes this soft-centred wine with its summer-pudding nose and spicy, liquorice edge – just right for quiche Lorraine."

  • "Beaujolais such as this flowery fleurie, a superior village wine from the famous burgundy house of Chanson, whose magnificent 16th-century fortress cellars in Beaune definitely merit a detour, is that bit richer and plumier than its competitors. As such, this ripe, juicy, leafy and now mature 2007, a good beaujolais vintage, overdelivers on crunchy fruit and flavour, making it a good simple, summer food red, equally happy with a plate of charcuterie as it is with grilled red meats."
