Grape

Chenin Blanc

Origin
Situated on slopes stretching from around 200-400 metres above sea level, 'The Morning Sun' vineyards are so named as they are the first parts of the Stellenbosch valley to receive the sun's light each day.
Taste
This Chenin is gloriously rich, with fermentation in barrel and lees ageing adding notes of honey on top of the rich oak and dazzling tropical fruit.
Enjoy
A powerful and full-bodied white like this really needs food, and would really suit a rich dish, such as foie-gras or pork.

Tates more like a £30 wine

If you blind tasted this against an expensive French Burgundy (Puligny or Chassagne Montrachet for example), you'd be hard pressed to conclude this wine is inferior. It stunned me and my guests the other evening and I intend to stock up quickly on more before it disappears. It is the best white wine I have tasted in this price bracket for years.

Archetypal South African Chenin for now or the long haul

Floral, honeyed, mineral, superb cool climate dry Chenin, delicious acidity, weight and length - put away a case and enjoy its evolution!

  • A stunner unlike any other South African Chenin

"Try this blind and you may be puzzled as to what the grape variety may actually be. This is an absolute gem, and is unlike any other South African Chenin Blanc. Plenty of oak barrelling and lees ageing give this tons of character with lashings of honey, minerality and tropical fruit; this is for those who want to be challenged and to enjoy a wine slowly. Delicious!"
