Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos St Jean 2008 Fontaine-Gagnard

Another superb effort from Chassagne-Montrachet specialist Richard Fontaine. Clos St Jean lies toward the northern end of the appellation close to St Aubin, and borders a limestone quarry; evidence of the region's limestone-rich soil. The wine has notable minerality and focus, with intriguing smoky notes on the nose.

Saint Clair have gone for maximum impact and expression with this Chardonnay, fermenting 100% of the grapes in a mixture of new and old French oak, before ageing the wine on for 9 months, with regular stirring to draw full character from the lees.

A sunny and generous wine, with a lively nose of peach and ripe pear fruit, with subtle hints of white blossom. A fruity and full-textured palate, with soft acidity and refreshing tropical notes. Drink with anything from cod Mornay to chicken Caesar salad.

Château de Mercey Hautes Côtes de Beaune Chardonnay 2005 Domaine Rodet

We've managed to secure this great value parcel. Fresh and full of minerality with exotic flavours on the palate the finish is warm and rounded. Already delicious, this wine is capable of further aging for 2 to 3 years.

Mâcon-Lugny 2011 Domaine des Terres Gentilles

A gem of a find, this great quality white shows that there are still producers in Burgundy who offer superb value, even with small-volume production. This impressive wine comes from a family-owned domaine of only 50ha.
