Origin
This domaine was previously owned by Gérard's father, Georges Bertrand, and was run by father and son until George's death. It is one of the premier estates in Boutenac, a part of Corbières recently awarded status as a recognised sub-appellation.
Taste
Aromatically rich and complex, with jammy blackcurrant fruit and hints of roasted coffee bean, leather and soft spice notes. Round and soft on the palate, with supple, well-weighted tannins.
Enjoy

Don't be put off by the reviewer below..

Who clearly needs to learn when a wine is faulty immediately! If you're getting clear aromas of ethanol, then yes the wine is faulty. To the wine itself: bags of ripe hedgerow fruit on the nose, and raspberry coulis on the palate, with fine tannin and balancing acidity. Dangerously more-ish.

    Ethanol !

Before I begin, perhaps this bottle was in someway flawed. so please nobody take this as gospel. After allowing to breathe in a carafe for an hour, I served with beef bourguignon. The first glass was a little reserved, with no real points worth commenting on. Within 30 minutes, further tastings were annihilated by a really harsh/strong alcoholic edge. So much so that my breath actually smelt like a hangover! Very odd. I have another bottle, so will see how i get on with that in due course. This wine scores well, so fingers crossed for a flawed bottle being the reason for the above.

  • A warm bear hug on a cold summer night (2009 Vintage)

"This is rich, splayed, figgy, juicy, all dried olive leaves. A warm bear hug on a cold summer night. (Victoria Moore, The Telegraph, 21st July 2012)"

  • ripe but restrained (2009 Vintage)

"Tremendous fruit – ripe but restrained, savoury but plump. I'm a big fan of this – structured and serious, but totally accessible (Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 25th May 2012)"
