Château Gruaud-Larose

Château Gruaud-Larose 1988 St-Julien, 2ème Cru Classé

Surprisingly powerful, rich, concentrated, long, and full-bodied for a 1988, and reminiscent of the 1975, only less savage, it appears to be a more complete wine than either the 1989 or 1990. With classic St-Julien notes of blackcurrant, cedar, lead pencil and superb concentration and length this is a fully mature 'super second' which compared to the 1982/6 looks a bargain. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025.
