"Caronne Ste-Gemme have built a reputation for reasonable prices on wines that repay ageing. This one, however, is ready to drink or can be cellared for another five years or so. 2003 was hot and the fruit as you'd expect is round with an alluring fragrance but this wine manages to retain a tannic grip on the finish. Surprisingly good, it's Bordeaux with a twist of pencil-shaving spice blended from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a squirt of Petit Verdot."
